A reflection of living and working in Africa
African Inspired
As a young man, the artist lived and worked in North Africa. It left a deep impression.
Working at the Summer Palace in Asmara the artist was able to meet HIM Haile Selassie. The artist saw both sides of life in the country - the affluent side and the very impoverished side. He also witnessed the effects of colonisation and war.
But the most lasting impressions on the artist were of the kindness of the ordinary people; their sense of dignity, their love and compassion, and their wonderful use of colour.
